Digital copies sent and books are at the printer!
12 days ago – Sun, Mar 22, 2026 at 08:07:15 AM

Hello Everyone!

We just sent out the digital copy of Smut Vol. 1! Wooo!

You may have noticed that you got 2 different notifications for the download, that's because we caught an error with the design/lettering on two pages (shout out to Sylvie for catching that) and we needed to correct it.

We submitted the books to the printer on Friday and they are working with us to get it out sooner rather than later, so hopefully we'll be able to start shipping out books by mid-April! That also means that we are locking down addresses, so if you moved recently, make sure that you're up to date.

Moreover, if you haven't gotten a notification for the digital distribution or address lockdown, you either need to check your spam/updates folder, or you still need to fill out your survey! Get that taken care of so you can get your rewards on time!

More news coming soon, I just got the most gorgeous cover I've ever seen for our upcoming series that's a spiritual sequel to this book, so you better believe I'll be sharing that soon! Until then, we've got 3 days left on our first campaign of the year and we'd appreciate it if you'd check it out!

The Catskin and the RINGO Awards!
15 days ago – Thu, Mar 19, 2026 at 07:29:40 AM

Hello Everyone!

Last year, we took a massive swing and pushed for Smut to get nominated for a Ringo award. We weren't sure anything would come from it, but we figured that dumber things have happened.

Well, dumber things did happen, and Smut won Best Humor Comic! That only happened because of you guys, our fans, showing up and voting for the book. Well, this year, we're going again and we'd like your help to get our graphic novella The Catskin and the Rose a Ringo nomination this year!

For those who don't know, The Catskin and the Rose is a Fantasy/Romance about two women fighting in a tournament for the privilege of marrying into the royal family, only to discover they have more in common with eachother than they do the Prince. Their respect turns into catching feelings and chaos insues. It's a really fun book that was an incredibly challenge to make but remains one of the high points of my career and I think the team deserves the same recognition that Smut got last year.

Click here to vote in the Ringos!

If you want to read the book, good news, we're running a campaign for the sequel series The Scorpion and the Queen right now and you can pick up The Catskin and the Rose as a part of that campaign, check it out here!

Thanks,

Wells Thompson

Big Production Update--Comics coming soon!
28 days ago – Fri, Mar 06, 2026 at 10:37:40 AM

Hello Everyone!

I've got big news--some good, some bad. Let's start with the thing that is unfortunately on everyone's mind, my country (the USA) is once again tumbling head over ass into a war in the Middle East. For those who don't know, Paree Paramound, our guest artist drawing a stretch goal short for us, is Iranian, currently lives in Iran, and has been affected by the bombing of her country.

First, to be clear, she and her family are safe at the moment and that has been our primary concern in communicating with her. As it relates to this campaign, she is obviously not in a good position or headspace to be working on her comic, nor would we expect her to be.

In order to give her the time and space she needs without delaying production on the book, we are moving forward to print in the next few weeks as intended without her story in the book. Instead, we will be publishing and distributing her short digitally when and if she is able to complete it and including the story in future printings when available.

The printed book will still include Bianca and Dorilys Giacchetto's short stories and we do sincerely apologize that the book will be initially shipping with less content than promised. But, faced with the choice of delaying the book indefinitely, firing Paree for circumstances well beyond her control (which would still delay the book by weeks or months), or shipping the book as is, we felt that this was the only ethical and acceptable path forward and we hope you agree.

We will continue to keep you up to date with the production of Paree's short post-fulfillment.

All that said, DC is finishing up lettering on Dorilys Giacchetto's short featuring Rita and it looks AMAZING! We should have the digital copy of the anthology out before C2E2 (March 27th) and start shipping the printed copies sometime in late April/early May at the latest!

We appreciate you being patient with us as we've worked through the bonus material and weathered unforseen circumstances. We're really looking forward to getting this book in your hands!

BackerKit Survey and Production Update!
about 1 month ago – Wed, Feb 18, 2026 at 06:54:00 AM

Hello Everyone!

Two big updates today, but I'll keep this quick! First, in adding a stretch goal to physical backers' reward list in BackerKit, the site decided, for some reason, to update all of those surveys and require you to either accept or reject the item. The item is free, it doesn't cost any extra shipping, and I haven't had this happen before, so I apologize for the inconvenience. You should have received an email to review your survey already, so that's what that's about. From what I can tell, this shouldn't cost you anything extra, so if it does, let me know so we can fix it! Furthermore, I'm still able to lock addresses for people who previously finished their surveys, so if you don't get around to it, I don't think it will hinder roll out.

Thing Two, both short comics have entered production! Paree fell a little behind schedule due to factors outside of her control, but we're still on a good pace and should be looking at a digital release in late March/early April! Both comics have me really excited, I'm so used to seeing these characters in the same art style, so seeing a fresh take on them absolutely rules. Can't wait to share more with you guys!

Obligatory Plug

We're gearing up for our first campaign of the year! It's gay, it's romantic, it's got swords. If that doesn't sound cool to you, I can't help you. Check out The Scorpion and the Queen #2 and sign up for prelaunch here!

Banner image based on A Cover by Sarra Barra

The Scorpion and the Queen is a 5 issue adventure/romance comic mini series about fighting for your place in the world, protecting what you love, and rejecting the prescribed roles society places on you. It's an incredibly sapphic sequel mini series to Kickstarter smash hit The Catskin and the Rose that features some of the best queer indie comic artists in the world! Think Princess Bride meets Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Thanks everyone!
